2008 Pike
County Conservation Educational Program Calendar
PIKE/WAYNE ENVIROTHON
May 8, 2008 - Lacawac Sanctuary
a one-day educational competition for high school
students designed to test their knowledge, skills, and
problem solving capabilities regarding our earth’s
natural resources. This will be the eighteenth year for
the Pike/Wayne Event, which will be held on Thursday,
May 8, 2007 at Lacawac Sanctuary, Wayne County.
Schools form Envirothon
teams that take an in-depth look at the disciplines of
wildlife science, forest ecology, soil science, aquatics
studies, as well as a yearly current issue topic. Teams
prepare for this daylong competition by researching
reference materials provided for them and by interacting
with experts from our cooperating agency partners. In
this process, the students are challenged to use
teamwork in developing creative solutions to
environmental problems.
